Woodworking has always been a part of my life. My father taught me the rudiments of carpentry and cabinetmaking and when I was about twelve years old, obtained an antique Atlas wood lathe.  We learned the basics of spindle turning together, but after that point, I really did not pursue the craft until a back injury forced me to give up sports.

Working as a Chemical Engineer is my "day" job.  That and raising three children relegated woodturning to an enjoyable pastime--it is a great means of getting stress off your back after a hard day.  In wintertime, I roam local woodlands and harvest my own turning stock.  I turn "green" wood for most of my ornamental offerings.  The turnings on display are from wood harvested in Jones, Twiggs, and Wilkinson Counties and from wood salvaged as part of the clean up following Hurricanes Ivan and Francis.

Now that my children are grown and on their own, I have the time to indulge in the craft of woodturning.  I harvest my own turning stock, make my own special turning tools, and even formulate my own wood finishes.  In maintaining a balance between family, job, and community commitments, I have time to make about thirty turnings per year.  These are offered to the public in local art galleries.  I hope you enjoy my work as much as I do in creating it.
